Olivia Hackney is an artist based out of Atlanta Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Art from the University of West Georgia and is working towards becoming a museum curator and gallery owner. Although her plans involve working in a museum, she still works on her art in various mediums—ceramics, photography, sculpture, and painting.
Olivia finds inspiration in her family background. Her grandmother is from Trinidad and Tobago. Through visits she learned to honor her ancestors and understand their sacrifices. Those sacrifices allow her to have the freedom of choice to pursue a career in art. Her art also discusses growing up in the south as an African American woman. Olivia is a lover of art history; and feel that her artist background helps with understanding past artists’ works. She wants to “work from the back to the front”, meaning she wants to work every aspect of an artistic institution. She is passionate about making art inclusive for everyone and being and inspiration to other people in her community that want to pursue a career in art.
